Steelers Fans Hold Rally Around Terrible Tree

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Steelers Nation is gearing up for Sunday's playoff game with black and gold day and a rally around the Terrible Tree at the Allegheny County Courthouse.

The Steelers and the San Diego Chargers don't kick off until 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Heinz Field, but that isn't stopping fans from catching the spirit.

County workers began decorating the tree, located in the courthouse courtyard, in black and gold earlier this week.

Fans gathered around the tree for the rally at noon, which was hosted by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and County Executive Dan Onorato.

Everyone in attendance was asked to wear their favorite Steelers gear and bring a black and gold item to decorate the tree.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ravenstahl has made a friendly wager on the game with San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders.

In the case of a Steelers win, a Steelers jersey and cap along with a pair of skis will be set to San Diego so Mayor Sanders can pose for a picture in them at the Sea World Penguin Encounter.

But in the unfortunate case of a Chargers win, Mayor Ravenstahl will be forced to pose for a picture in Chargers swim trunks and a jersey with a surf board standing by one of our three rivers.

And any fan hoping to watch the game in person just may be in luck. There are plenty of tickets available on internet sites such as the Steelers Ticket Exchange, Craigslist and Ebay.

In this economy, a lot of season ticket holders say they would rather have the cash, but others say it's just going to be too cold on Sunday. In most cases, the asking price is not too high.

Stay with KDKA for the much more on today's rally.
