Max Starks Signs Four-Year Deal With Steelers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Steelers' offensive tackle Max Starks will be staying in Pittsburgh for at least another four years.

The six-year veteran signed the deal Tuesday, keeping him with the Steelers' through 2012. The deal's figures have not been released.

Starks has played in 72 games and made 45 starts during his NFL career, making him the team's longest-playing offensive lineman.

The franchise player will play left tackle for the team in the upcoming season. The Steelers will face off with the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 13 at Heinz Field for the first pre-season game of 2009.

Starks was drafted by the Steelers 75th overall in the 2004 NFL Draft from the University of Florida.

After Marvel Smith was injured last season, Starks filled in for 15 of the Steelers regular season games.

Starks helped the team win Super Bowl XLIII, starting at left tackle in all three of the teams' 2008 postseason games.
