Big Ben Donates Police Dog To Jacksonville PD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (KDKA) ― Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is continuing his tradition of funding police department K-9 units.

While the Steelers were in Jacksonville this past weekend, Roethlisberger presented a grant to the Jacksonville Police Department.

K-9 Unit Officer Chuck Bridgeman says he will use the money for a new dog to replace Tanto, a ten-year veteran German Shepherd who is about to retire.

The grant money can also be used to purchase canine bulletproof vests and other equipment.

This is the second consecutive year Roethlisberger has made donations of this kind.

Besides giving grants to Pittsburgh area police departments and the department in his hometown of Findlay, Ohio, Roethlisberger donates money to each city where the Steelers play away games.
