Bengals Say They're Ready For Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Cincinnati Bengals, like the rest of the nation, saw the very soggy Heinz Field on Monday night.

"I've never seen a field that bad really but hey - it's not like we get on the field and then they go to a good field - they're playing on the same field," Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh said.

"It's not gonna be much better you know in a week. You know, you're really not gonna get much improvement. We're expecting it be probably like it was if not worse depending on the rain situation," QB Carson Palmer said.

But the grounds crew was busy Wednesday at Heinz Field trying to make it better.

"We're doing everything that is possible to do. We have total confidence in our ground crew," Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney said.

As for the debate about the turf on Heinz Field, Ben Roethlisberger said he'd rather keep the grass.

"The field that we have is to our advantage because we know what it is and we're used to it. Other teams aren't prepared for it. We always enjoy being able to have that advantage," he said.

But the Bengals practice on a field with similar problems so their QB says they're used to it.

"I've played in Pittsburgh a number of times when it was pretty bad, they have a tough time growing grass there, but the field we practice on everyday is as slippery," Palmer said.

"Got to use proper technique. I don't know if any type of shoes or screw-ins will matter. If it was anything like it was Monday it won't matter," Houshmandzadeh said.
