Roethlisberger Puts End To Injury Speculation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― With the Steelers as healthy as they've been in a couple of months, the last thing they wanted see yesterday was Ben Roethlisberger leaving the field with his knee wrapped.

But before this injury story could get any legs, Roethlisberger put an end to any speculation at Thursday's practice.

The Steelers were inside for practice, so there weren't any worries about the slippery turf that tweaked Roethlisberger's knee. He went through the full workout and was removed from the Steelers injury report.

Now the league and television networks can breathe a sigh of relief. Roethlisberger and Tony Romo are easily two of the highest-profile quarterbacks in the NFL. The fact it's Steelers versus Cowboys only adds to the national appeal.

"Well, they're America's team," says Roethlisberger. "I still think we have more fans, but they're still America's team and … it'll be as coach says, a five-star matchup."

And it goes beyond the records of the two teams involved. While both quarterbacks have the same gambling style, they play things much differently off the field.

While Roethlisberger tries to keep a low profile, you don't have to look hard for information about Tony Romo's personal life. It's not often Jessica Simpson's boyfriend pays a visit to Heinz Field.

"I don't mean this to sound rude, but he's like asking for it," says Ben. "He's doing all the stuff that he wants to do and that's the life that he chooses to live off the football field and that's, like I said, that's his choice."

"I don't really pay attention," Ryan Clark said. "I had to stop reading 'Us Weekly' and all that stuff. I felt kind of feminine. So I really haven't been up on it, you know what I mean? I really haven't been up on it, but I do know he's an awesome quarterback."

With Roethlisberger practicing, Troy Polamalu is the only remaining injury question for the Steelers. He missed the last two practices with a calf injury, but at this point, there doesn't seem to be much concern about his status for Sunday's game.
