The Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger are making the football dreams of one teenager come true today.
That 14-year-old fan, Akeem Havens, of Georgia, is spending the day with Big Ben at Steelers Headquarters on the South Side.
He was also signed on as part of the Pittsburgh Steelers Rookie Class of 2008 and attended practice with the entire team.
"It's just one of the best things I've done," said Havens, "probably one of the 'funnest' days of my life."
Havens was paralyzed and is suffering from kidney failure from an accident that he was in at the age of 7.
On Wednesday, Havens was treated to a tour of Heinz Field and a visit to the Sports Museum.
The
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia is celebrating 25 years of making the dreams come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
