Penguins Win Over Maple Leafs, 5-4

TORONTO (AP) ― Sidney Crosby returned to the Pittsburgh Penguins' lineup with a goal and an assist in a 5-4 preseason victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 21-year-old star sat out Wednesday's 3-2 home win over Toronto with a sore groin. But he looked no worse for the wear in the final exhibition game on this side of the Atlantic for Pittsburgh.

Crosby, who earlier set up Mark Eaton's goal, tied the game 3-3 at 5:26 of the third period. He took Miro Satan's breakaway pass and beat Vesa Toskala while being hauled to the ice.

Matt Cooke banged home a loose puck with 1:35 left for Pittsburgh's first and only lead of the game. Kris Letang tied it 4-4 at 16:14 after Tomas Kaberle, who also had two assists, gave the Maple Leafs a 4-3 lead at 7:55.

Janne Pesonen scored for the Penguins, who leave Saturday for Stockholm, Sweden, where they will open the NHL season with games against the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 4-5. They will also take a brief trip to Finland for an exhibition game with Jokerit Helsinki.
