Pirates Season Ends With 6-0 Loss To Reds

CINCINNATI (KDKA/AP) ― The Pirates ended their 17th straight season of losing Sunday afternoon by getting shutout once again.

This time around they lost 6-0 to the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds' Brandon Phillips drove in three runs and Homer Bailey shut out the Bucs for six innings.

Phillips, the Reds' only regular starting player to avoid the disabled list throughout the season, had an RBI double in the first off Jeff Karstens, a run-scoring groundout and another RBI double.

Bailey finished his breakout season by improving to 4-0 career against the Pirates.

The Reds ended their ninth losing season in a row, while the Pirates have the distinction of having the longest streak of losing seasons in four major American professional sports leagues.
