After an 8-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, only one game remains to be played this season for the Pirates.
The Reds took advantage of Zach Duke's control problems for the win Saturday.
Duke walked a season-high five, one short of his career high, while losing for the fifth time with just one win in his last seven starts.
He gave up six hits and five runs with two strikeouts in five innings.
For the Reds, Joey Votto homered and drove in three runs.
Also, Johnny Cueto rebounded from a rough first inning for the win. Cueto allowed five hits and four runs with four walks and six strikeouts in six innings.
The Pirates season ends Sunday after one last game against the Reds set to start at 1:10 pm.
