Pirates End Mets' Six-Game Winning Streak

PITTSBURGH (AP) ― Steve Pearce hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Mets 5-2 Monday, ending New York's six-game winning streak.

The loss left the Mets with a 1½-game lead over idle Philadelphia in the NL East.

Adam LaRoche homered and Jack Wilson hit a two-run double as the Pirates stopped a four-game losing skid.

Jerry Manuel was ejected for the fourth time as Mets manager for arguing a call on the bases in the third inning.
