Moss' Walk-Off Homer Lifts Bucs Over Brewers 8-7
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Brandon Moss hit a walk-off home run off Mitch Stetter to lift the Pirates to an 8-7 win over the Brewers, after wild game at PNC Park Wednesday afternoon.
The Pirates jumped out to an early 5-2 lead after three innings only to see the Brewers put up five runs in the fifth to re-take the lead 7-5.
In the bottom of the fifth though, the Pirates answered with two runs of their own to tie the game at 7-7.
Delwyn Young scored on an Andy LaRoche ground-rule double to cut the lead to one. LaRoche later scored to tie the game on a Ramon Vazquez double.
Garrett Jones had another solid day at the plate going 3-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season.
Ryan Doumit went deep twice in the game and Andrew McCutchen hit his third homer of the season in the third inning.
Moss was the lead-off hitter in the ninth inning and sent the fans home happy with his sixth home run of the season to deep center field.
Paul Maholm pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs and seven hits while walking three and striking out five.
Matt Capps got the win to improves his record to 2-5 on the season.
The Pirates will go on the road to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday night. The probable pitchers will be Charlie Morton (2-2, 3.21) against Dan Haren (10-5, 1.96)
