Penguins Chose Center In 4th Round Of NHL Draft

PITTSBURGH (AP) ― The Pittsburgh Penguins, who traded away their top three picks in the NHL draft, chose center Nathan Moon from Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League on the fourth round.

The 5-foot-11 Moon had 35 goals and 42 assists for 77 points in 68 games last season.

Later, the Penguins drafted goaltenders Alexander Pechurski from Russia in the fifth round and Patrick Kileen from Brampton (OHL) in the sixth round.

They also took defenseman Nicholas D'Agostino from St. Michael's of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League in the seventh. He has committed to Cornell for next season.

Pechurski played on Russia's 18 and under world championship team the last two seasons. He is a native of Magnitogorsk, the hometown of Penguins star Evgeni Malkin.

The Penguins largely relied on the draft to rebuild themselves into a Stanley Cup finalist after finishing last in the Eastern Conference two years ago. But they dealt away their top three picks in moves to pick up veteran players.
