Pens Fans Buying Record Number Of Tickets

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Last spring's Stanley Cup run did wonders for the Penguins when it comes to adding to their already strong fan base.

As the new season gets under way in Sweden this weekend, the Pens are posting a new record for ticket sales.

The home opener is October 11 versus the New Jersey Devils but Pens' fans have already started scooping up tickets for the entire season.

The team has sold out a record number of 67 consecutive games, dating back to 2006-2007 including both the regular season and playoffs.

The season ticket holder waiting list has grown to an impressive 2,500 people and ten of the Pens' home games have sold out.

Only a limited number of tickets are available for the other 30 games.

Those tickets cost $50 to $115.

Team president David Morehouse says the team is absolutely humbled by the fans' support, especially in light of the difficult economy right now.
