Local Couple Has Penguins-Themed Wedding

WEST VIEW (KDKA) ― On the eve of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, it was hard to tell whether one local couple was throwing a wedding reception or a pre-game rally for the Penguins.

After saying their vows, Wes and Michelle Erskine celebrated not just their marriage, but their love for the Pens at the Firefighters Banquet Hall in West View.

The party wouldn't have been complete without the groomsmen chanting, "Let's go Pens!"

Erskine said it took some negotiations with his bride, but in the end she was happy to make her reception Penguins-themed.

"Yeah, it was all right with me," said Michelle. "He's an awesome guy. He can do what he wants."

And Wes said the theme gave their reception an authentic touch.

"It speaks of me and Michelle," he said. "Let's go Pens, baby. Let's go!"

As for their plans for a honeymoon, well, that's not going to happen till he watches the Pens play on Sunday.

"Going to Aruba on Monday," Wes said, "watching the Pens game tomorrow."
