Pens' Fans Celebrate Win, Ready For Philadelphia
The Penguins will meet cross-state rival Philadelphia in the first all-Pennsylvania conference final. That series starts Friday at Mellon Arena.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
Faithful fans gathered again Sunday at the Igloo, some inside and other outside, hoping for a Penguins win that would move the team on to the Eastern Conference finals.
The fans not lucky enough to score tickets inside, instead, watched the game from an LCD big screen outside Mellon Arena.
And they were excited for a big win.
"It's going to be a tough game, but we're going to win," said fan, Lauren Cooper.
Then when the Pens racked up two goals the fans went wild, but the festive atmosphere evaporated when the Rangers came back to tie it in the third period.
However, there was still hope.
"I still think we can pull this thing off," said long-time fan, Matt Repage.
With Marian Hossa's goal in overtime, the Penguins did, and have now advanced to the Eastern Conference finals just as fans had been hoping.
Now begins the Penguins battle with Philadelphia, and of course, the fans can't wait.
"What's Philadelphia? Where's that?" said another fan.
