Steelers, Penguins Up For Awards At 2009 ESPYs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A sports awards show is pitting the Penguins versus the Steelers.

Pittsburgh's Super Bowl and Stanley Cup champions are both up for several awards at ESPN's 17th annual ESPY Awards.

But some categories have the teams going head to head.

The Steelers and Pens are facing off in a black and gold showdown in the Best Team Award category.

Meanwhile, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and Penguins coach Dan Bylsma are nominated for the Best Coach Award.

Also, the Steelers are nominated in the Best Game category for their Super Bowl victory over the Arizona Cardinals in February.

Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes is nominated for the Best Play with his incredible touchdown catch from Ben Roethlisberger that won the Super Bowl.

And the Steelers James Harrison is also up for Best NFL Player.

Over on the hockey side, Conn Smythe winner Evgeni Malkin and Penguins captain Sidney Crosby are both nominated for the Best NHL Player. Crosby has won the award for the past two years.

Online fan voting will run through 11:59 p.m. on July 11th.

The awards are set to be given out on Sunday, July 19th at 9 p.m.
