With possible elimination looming, the Penguins realize the tough situation they're facing tonight; but the players say they realize the task at hand and are up for the challenge.
"This is a great test for us," Pens Forward Ryan Malone said after practice today. "I mean, I wouldn't want to go to battle with anybody else besides the guys in this room and if anyone can do it, I think this team can."
For the first time since the Stanley Cup playoffs began, the Pens have no room for error. After easily eliminating the Senators, Rangers and Flyers, the Pens themselves are now in a do or die situation.
Going in to Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals down three games to one, the Pens are just one loss away from ending their season.
But knowing what they're up against could help them raise the level to play at the desperation stage to keep their hopes alive.
"We're in a tough situation, there's no doubt," Pens Captain Sidney Crosby added, 'but the only way to get out of it is to keep fighting and that's what we're going to try to do."
