Penguins Try For Playoff Sweep Of Rangers Tonight

Talbot out, Roberts in for tonight's game

NEW YORK (KDKA) ― The Penguins are going for a second playoff series sweep later today when they take on the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

If the Pens win they will not only advance to the next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but they will have won eight straight games so far in the Playoffs.

In the first round, the Pens swept the Ottawa Senators.

Fans are once again invited to watch all the action on the LCD big screen set up outside Mellon Arena.

Penguins' goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury, whose playoff run has so far been red-hot, is being recognized with a new t-shirt created just for him.

Thousands of shirts reading, 'The Fast and the Fleuryous,' are set to be printed up today. They are being made at Classic Impression in Bridgeville.

However, we have now learned that the Penguins will have to do battle tonight without the help of Maxime Talbot. There are reports that he has an injured foot and it seems that will keep him off the ice tonight.

Talbot was seen was wearing a walking boot when he reported to practice on Wednesday in New York. It reportedly happened when he blocked a shot in Tuesday night's game.

Instead, fans can watch Gary Roberts take the ice during the game.

Meanwhile, Rangers forward Sean Avery is in the hospital this morning with a lacerated spleen. The Rangers say avery went to the hospital after Tuesday night's game. Officials say Avery is out for the rest of the season, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
