Pens, Stanley Cup Take In Pirates Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Penguins are still riding high after their Stanley Cup Final victory last week.

At Mellon Arena Sunday morning, the players gathered and held their final press conferences for the season.

Pens head coach Dan Bylsma toted the Cup, while captain Sidney Crosby tried to describe his overwhelming emotions.

"It's everything I expected and probably more," said Crosby of his first Cup win. "It's a great feeling and we're all really happy, but at the same time we're all pretty tired at this point."

Meanwhile, veteran right winger Bill Guerin talked about the future of the Penguins.

"Crosby, Malkin and Staal, and, of course, Talbot; this team is set up for a great future," said Guerin of his younger teammates.

The attention has definitely been on the Penguins the last couple of days, but arguably the Stanley Cup itself is sharing the spotlight.

Since the final buzzer sounded in Detroit Friday evening, and the team brought it home on their private jet overnight, the Cup has already made its way around Pittsburgh.

"We sat there and had lunch yesterday [Saturday], and we brought it to a place on the South Side and it was just great," said Guerin.

"The guys had it last night [Saturday] on Carson Street," added Crosby. "To see the Cup just among that may people and the attention it draws, no matter if you're a hockey fan or not, there's just something about it that is so special."

After their morning press conferences, some of the team headed over to PNC Park and showed off their Stanley Cup bling at the Pittsburgh Pirates afternoon baseball game against, ironically, the Detroit Tigers.

Crosby carried the Cup from the dugout and was greeted by the cheers of thousands. He was joined by Bylsma, and other teammates like Jordan Staal and Kris Letang.

Fans also got to watch Guerin test his baseball skills when he threw out the first pitch.

The Cup has another big day Monday when Pittsburgh's salutes its latest champions with a parade.
