Penguins' Items Fly As Team Pursues Stanley Cup

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The Pittsburgh Penguins are going to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1992.

Just an hour after the Pens dominated Philadelphia from start to finish in a shut-out victory Sunday, tickets for the first home game at Mellon Arena were popping up on the internet.

As of this morning, TicketsNow.com had 179 tickets ranging from $530 to $3,314; RazorGator had 166 tickets ranging from $414 to $3,290; StubHub.com had 124 tickets ranging from $416 to $3,270.

At the Penguins store at the Mellon Arena, t-shirts and hats with "Eastern Conference Champions" on them are selling fast.

However, don't expect to see anyone on the team wearing them.

It's considered bad luck to touch the Prince of Wales trophy awarded to the Penguins yesterday and many players won't wear the new shirts saying they are focused on winning the Stanley Cup itself.

Meanwhile, the Pens now await the winner of the Detroit-Dallas series, with the Red Wings holding a 3-to-2 series lead.

Game six of that series is tonight.

If Detroit wins the series, Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals could begin this weekend in Detroit.

If Dallas wins the series, the series would begin here in Pittsburgh possibly on Memorial Day.

Stay with KDKA for more Penguins coverage.
