Pens Fans Ready For Flyers Match-Up

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh Penguins fans are fired up for Friday's game one of the Eastern Conference finals against cross-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. 

The Pens moved into round three with a clutch overtime goal by Marian Hossa -- his first goal of the playoffs came at just the right time.

"He did good," said Jon Caldwell, of Glassport.  "He came through when we needed him."

This will be the fourth meeting between the Pens and Flyers in the post-season.

Philadelphia has won all of the previous meetings and this time promises to be an intense battle.

"I think it will be tough," said Chris Angelopoulos, of Murrysville.  "Philly has always been physical with us.  It's going to be great to watch."

The first game will take place Friday at Mellon Arena.

Here's the schedule for the Eastern Conference Finals match-up between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers has been announced.

  • Friday, May 9: Philadelphia at Penguins
  • Sunday, May 11: Philadelphia at Penguins
  • Tuesday, May 13: Penguins at Philadelphia
  • Thursday, May 15: Penguins at Philadelphia
  • Sunday, May 18: Philadelphia at Penguins, if necessary
  • Tuesday, May 20: Penguins at Philadelphia, if necessary
  • Thursday, May 22: Philadelphia at Penguins, if necessary
 
Games times have not yet been announced.

There's no word yet on when tickets will be sold by the Penguins.

The winner of this series will take on either the Detroit Red Wings or the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup finals.
