KDKA Sports Producer Mike Vukovcan answered your questions about the Penguins on NHL Trade Deadline Day 2009.

Jen: I see the Pens claimed RW Craig Adams. What do you think of this move?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Good move. Solid checker. Defensive guy. 4th liner who skates better than Godard. Will be able to play in the playoffs.
CrosbysQuest: Was Satan picked up by anyone?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No, Satan went unclaimed, meaning he's still officially with the team. The question is how much will he play now that they've acquired Guerin and possibly another forward
maclen23: What did the Pens give up for Guerin?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Pens gave up a conditional draft pick. It will be either a 3rd, 4th or 5th round pick. If Pens make playoffs, it's a 4th rounder...If they win a round, it becomes a 3rd rounder
deebo: Do you think the Pens are finished making moves for this deadline?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No, I think they're trying to trade for another center that can win faceoffs.
crosscheck: Whatever happened to picking up Antropov from Toronto?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Toronto wanted more than Shero is willing to give up. Asking for a 1st or 2nd round pick plus a player. Way too much.
Falcons01: Do you see Crosby's line having Guerin and Kunitz or will Kunitz stay with Kennedy and Staal?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: I think he'll keep Kunitz with Staal. That line has good chemistry and I don't think they'll mess with that.
racer: Who is out there to win faceoffs that they can get?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Not sure, I'm checking into that
Bull: What major trades have been made so far?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: The biggest deal of the day is Phoenix trading Jokinen to Calgary. Philadelphia just traded Scottie Upshall to Phoenix.
maclen23: Is the trade for Jarkko off the table?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Not sure, I'd imagine so...But, I know the Pens really wanted to trade for him.
GoPens2009: Love that deal and it didn't cost anything like Staal
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Go Pens, I completely agree with you. Plus, the Pens had 2 3rd round picks this year.
b: Are pens interested in Gaborik?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No...He's gets injured too much and would cost too much
pgh1234: Will Colby be back today?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Don't think he'll be back today but I do think they'll acquire him this off-season. Sid wants him back.
boscoe: Was this trade in the works from Saturday or did the Penguins move in today on Guerin.
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Don't know about that, but I did hear it came down to the Pens and Capitals.
GoPens2009: What was the reason for the swap of minor league defensemen? We got one 4 yrs older. Does that mean he might be ready to contribute now?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No, it's a minor league depth trade. He's not coming to Pittsburgh.
SteveS813: Has any trade surprised you so far?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: I'm surprised that Jay Bouwmeester hasn't been traded yet.
jimmymo: What about St. Louis? The Pens waited until the very last second to sign Hossa last year.... can you see the same thing happening with another elite player like Marty St. Louis?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Tampa Bay isn't trading St. Louis. With the Pens getting Guerin, they won't have an interest in St. Louis. They got the winger for Sid.
CrosbysQuest: Do the Pens have room for Guerin and Satan under the cap?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Yes....By the way, the team just sent Tim Wallace back to the minors. Guerin took his space on the roster
ReggieDunlop: Do you really think Goligoski is NHL ready ....defensively?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: I wouldn't be surprised if the Pens trade a defenseman and Goligoski takes that defenseman's spot
ReggieDunlop: Is Shero serious about keeping Gonchar?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Yes...I believe they'll sign him to an extension in the off-season
crossandskullbones: Will Guerin be in line up vs. Fla.?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Yes...He'll be in Florida
deebo: Why have the Pens been trying to acquire the recent players that they have either let walk away or traded last year?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Maybe Shero realizes that he made a mistake

KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No...Tampa wants too much

kp2: More importantly, if we decide that Guerin is worthy of a new contract past this season, what implications might this have on re-signing Petr Sykora?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: That's a good point. I've heard negotiations aren't going well.....I've also heard that Guerin likes New York and could return after this season.

CrosbysQuest: What have you heard about Tangradi? NHL ready next season? Everything I've read makes him the Pens best prospect already.
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: No, he's not ready...He'll be in camp but probably 2 years away

KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Erik Christensen traded from Atlanta to Anaheim....Dom Moore traded by Toronto to Buffalo
b: Where do you play Godard?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: He's probably done...He'll be sitting in the press box
Pitt_Beerman: You think Blysma will be out next head coach for next season and beyond? Or do you think the Pens will go for another coach such as Pat Quinn?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: I believe he will get a shot but I also know that Shero has other coaches he's fond of...So, that will be something down the road
crossandskullbones: Do you like a Pens/Bruins matchup in the 1st round? What's up with Boston getting Recchi?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Boston needs a veteran guy like Recchi who has won a Stanley Cup and remember Tim Thomas has never won a playoff series. Recchi can only help a young team like that.
moose7618: In your opinion what's the biggest deal so far in the league?
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Jokinen getting dealt to Calgary makes them a serious contender to Detroit. Think it makes them better than San Jose.
Normmm: Guerin is the answer to grit, no doubt.
KDKA_Sports__Mike_Vukovcan: Norrmm...I agree.....Plus he'll be a good addition to the power play and he'll fit their new forechecking style.
