The Pittsburgh Penguins got back in the win column on Tuesday night in Anaheim with a 4-3 victory over the Ducks.
Pascal Dupuis scored the game-winning goal at the 9:13 mark of the third period.
Brooks Orpik fed a pass across the blue line to Dupuis, who had rotated out to the point, and fired a rocket through a crowd that beat Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller to the glove side.
The goal came just 59 seconds after Saku Koivu beat Marc-Andre Fleury on a wrap-around to tie the game at 3-3.
The Penguins improved to 12-3-0 on the season and remain a perfect 7-0 on the road, which ties the NHL record for most consecutive road victories to start a season.
Sidney Crosby continued to show why he is one of the most complete players in the world.
He did not register a point, but with just over three minutes to play he made a save that Fleury would be proud of.
After Fleury dove out to cover a puck and was unable to do so, Crosby went down in the crease and stacked the pads to make a save on what would have been the game-tying goal.
Alex Goligoski put the Pens up 3-2 in the third period, when he bombed a loose puck from the point that missed all the bodies in front of the net to beat Hiller.
In the second period, Kris Letang scored his first goal of the season on a wrist shot through a screen while the Penguins were controlling the play on a delayed penalty call.
Corey Perry scored two goals for the Ducks, including the game's opening tally.
The Penguins trailed 1-0 after the first period, but Mike Rupp tied the game in the second when he collected the puck in the slot and fired a shot on net. Hiller got a big piece of it, but the puck bounced off him and into the net.
Former Penguin, Ryan Whitney was held off the scoresheet and only registered one shot on goal.
After missing the last three games, Tyler Kennedy returned to the lineup and registered two assists in the game.
Pittsburgh travels to Los Angeles to take on the Kings on Thursday.
