Steelers Kick Off Regular Season Today

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― In just a few short hours the Steelers will kick off against the Houston Texans at Heinz Field, marking the start of their regular season.

For fans headed to the game, there are a few things to need keep in mind before heading to the stadium.

First, getting there early, not only because traffic is always tough around the stadium on game days, but also the team has a special program planned before the game.

The Steelers are asking all fans to be in their seats by 12:30 p.m.

"We have a pregame tribute that we're going to give to Ernie Holmes Dwight White and Myron Cope," said Steelers spokesman, Dave Lockett. "We want fans to participate in that and bring their towels for that tribute."

Also, new fan conduct rules are being enforced this year. A hotline and text message number have been set up to report unruly fans.

As for the food, fans can expect the same menu items as last year and it looks like prices haven't changed.

The game starts at 1 p.m. and for the first time in a long time, the defense is expected to be back at 100 percent.

Troy Polamalu, Aaron Smith and Ryan Clark, all of whom missed time last year, will be in the starting lineup.

Stay with KDKA for all the latest news on the Steelers.
