Backyard Brawl Draws Huge Crowd At Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― If shopping isn't your thing, maybe football is. And what better rivalry then the Backyard Brawl.

Every year, WVU heads up I-79 to Pittsburgh or Pitt heads south to Morgantown to slug it out for bragging rights for the next year.

Let the games begin.

"Great rivalry, best in all of college sports if you'd ask me," said University of Pittsburgh fan Barret Morris.

Get out your knee pads and brass knuckles it's the backyard brawl.

"Let's go P-I-T-T," said Morris

"With the game last year, with how we were up for a national championship bid and got beat by Pitt, this year we're up for revenge," said West Virginia Mountaineer fan Stephanie Perez.

For Perez last year's loss to Pitt, not only meant bye bye for her Mountaineers BCS title game but it left a bitter taste in her mouth.

So much so that instead of Black Friday shopping she was out early this morning tail gating with her family.

Her family is a little divided this holiday.

"It's always been kind of a split in my house. I've always been on the West Virginia side and the rest of my family has been for the whole Pitt thing," said Perez.

Including her uncle David who's been grilling most of the morning but catching slack for his allegiance to Pitt.

"Friendly family feud. We're throwing our barbs along the way. It's kind of like Michigan and Ohio State, if you win one game all year long, it needs to be against West Virginia," said David Perez.

It's only natural to expect the game to be as just as testy... only thing left to decide is who will be left standing.

Last year, Pitt won 13 to 9 at Morgantown.
