18th Annual PirateFest Wraps Up Today
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
It may feel like the depths of winter, but, believe it or not, baseball season is just around the corner.
Pitchers and catchers will report to Pirates spring training on February 15th.
Today, fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates will have a final chance to meet their favorite players and more at the 18th annual PirateFest at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
PirateFest runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Pirates at
412-321-BUCS or
1-800-BUY-BUCS or online at the
Pirates' website.
PirateFest is described as a giant indoor baseball carnival for the entire family featuring live events, free autograph sessions, the Pirate Parrot and more.
"PirateFest is an exciting time for both the organization and our fans because it is the official kickoff for the upcoming season," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. "It gives us another opportunity for our players and our entire organization to personally thank our fans for their continued dedication before we head to spring training."
In addition to meeting the players, fans this year will be able to ask Pirates management. Frank Coonelly, Neal Huntingdon and John Russell will answer fan questions.
Pirate fans are also urged to bring a non-perishable food or grocery item to the Pirates Community Corner booth to receive a free team poster featuring player photos and the 2008 schedule.
