With two goals in the last three minutes of regulation, the Penguins forced overtime and won in a shootout against the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-3.
The Pens were on the road in the baby blue jerseys for the first time since they played in the 2008 Winter Classic in Buffalo.
The Blue Jackets' Rick Nash scored twice once on his knees. Derek Dorsett also got his first goal of the season.
Chris Kunitz got the Pens on the board, with an assist from Sidney Crosby at 11:55 of the second period.
The Blue Jackets held the lead, 3-1 until Ruslan Fedotenko got a rebound off of a wide shot from Martin Skoula with 2:56 left in the third period.
Capitalizing on the momentum, Alex Goligoski scored with assists from Crosby and Kunitz.
Crosby scored the only goal in the shootout, winning it for the Pens.
Brent Johnson stopped 29 shots before the shootout, then stymied Antoine Vermette, Rick Nash and Kristian Huselius in the tiebreaker.
The Penguins improved to 6-0-0 on the road, the franchise's best start ever away from home.
