Roethlisberger Rejects Settlement Offer

(CBS) The attorney for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is rejecting a settlement offer by a former Nevada casino worker who claims the Super Bowl winner sexually assaulted her.

Roethlisberger attorney David Cornwell says the woman's offer is bizarre.

The woman wants Roethlisberger to admit to the allegations, apologize and donate $100,000 to the Committee to Aid Abused Women, a Reno nonprofit organization that offers support to domestic violence victims.

In a statement Wednesday, Cornwell says the proposal insults women who have legitimately suffered from sexual misconduct.

The woman sued the Super Bowl-winning quarterback in July, accusing him of assaulting her in 2008 in a hotel across the street from a golf course where he was playing in a celebrity tournament.

Roethlisberger has denied the allegations.

Andrea McNulty never filed criminal charges in the case.

McNulty claimed that Roethlisberger forced her to have sex at the Harrah's Casino, where she was assigned to host VIPs, at a golf tournament in 2008.

The quarterback's lawyer says she claimed she would date Roethlisberger in e-mails that were recently released and attributed to McNulty.

She also sued a number of employees, claiming they were trying to cover up the assault.

A judge has been assigned to this case, but has yet to schedule a hearing on various pre-trial motions.
