Probably the most famous Hollywood to Washington, D.C. transplant, Ronald Reagan made his first foray into politics when he gave a spirited speech in support of Republican Barry Goldwater's presidential candidacy in 1964. He was soon elected Governor of California, where he served from 1967 to 1975. Reagan was elected President of the United States in 1980. His training served him well in that office, as he has gone down in history as "The Great Communicator."
