Top Local Summer Travel Destinations Named
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
This weekend, travelers will fight airline delays and backed-up traffic for the Memorial Day travel.
The unofficial beginning of summer means 37 percent of these travelers are planning to fly, while 59 percent plan to drive.
And with gasoline prices higher than they've ever been,
TripAdvisor has announced the top travel destinations for Pittsburgh residents:
1. Niagara Falls
2. Gettysburg
3. Charleston, W. Va.
4. Washington, D.C.
5. Hershey
According to the Summer Travel Survey, 90 percent of Americans are planning to travel for leisure this summer.
Of these, 51 percent say that gas prices will affect their plans, and 37 percent say they plan to spend more money on vacation this year than last year.
