Beauty Editor: How To Wear Brights
(KDKA)
The bright shades of this season are a great way to up-date your make-up. The new textures make them easy for everyone to use.
How to Wear Brights
First, make sure to shape your eye brows and even skin tone with foundation. Dust your face with loose powder, even under your eyes, in case any eye shadow falls on your face it will be easy to brush away.
Apply an eye shadow primer to your eye area or your neutral shade of eye shadow before your bright color. This will even the skin tone of the eye area so the true color of shadow will show.
Bright or bold shades for the eyes are blue, purple, green, yellow and orange. Fair skin tones should use lighter hues and medium to dark skin tones can wear darker shades.
Blues and purple look great with black eye liner and mascara. Greens are a nice change from neutral shades. A sweep of yellow or orange from your lid to your eye brow is an easy, bright look for summer paired with black eyeliner and mascara.
A few ways to wear brights:
1. All over from the lid to the brow bone. If you are using a dark shade on the lid highlight with a lighter shade of the same color on your lids. You can also add a touch of the lighter shade on the inner corner of the eyes.
2. Apply a light shade of color or neutral shade to the eye lid then apply the bright shade of your choice from the corner of the outside of the eye to the brow. Pair with black mascara and eye liner.
3. If you are afraid to use a bold shade of eye shadow, use a neutral shade and use eye liner and mascara in the same shade for a hint of color. Such as,navy eye liner and mascara looks great with a sweep of grey on the lids. Green eye liner and mascara look great with a sweep of gold brown on the lids. Plum eye liner and mascara look great with a sweep of light blue or purple eye shadow.
Blush is a must to balance the face when wearing bright shades. Peach and pink blush are the colors to wear this season.
Bright lips, go for it if you are comfortable with lip stick, if not, use a lip gloss in a bold shade. Or, use lip gloss by day, lip stick at night. Either way, use a lip liner pencil in the same shade as your lip color or use an invisible lip liner to help lip color last and not bleed into tiny lines.
Pair:
- Bright pink lips w/ plum blush.
- Coral lips w/ peach blush.
- Red lips w/ brown red blush or bronzer as blush.
- Basically stick to the same color family.
