Zorbeez: Does It Really Do That?

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A new product claims to make cleaning up household spills easier to tackle.

An infomercial for Zorbeez claims: "(It's) the most absorbent material and has the strength to hold over 20 ounces of liquid."

So, KDKA Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos set out to find out "Does It Really Do That?".

Our tester, Jill Reagan has four children under the age of five.

To her, spills are pretty much a way of life.

"We are always wiping something up," she said.

Reagan says she easily goes through two rolls of paper towels a week.

So, she is interested but skeptical.

"I usually don't believe in infomercials and this one is no exception," said Reagan.

Zorbeez comes with four large and three small Zorbeez towels that look like shammy cloths.

We filled a bowl with 20 ounces of grape juice to see for ourselves if Zorbeez lives up to its claim that it can hold 20 ounces of liquid.

The result: It did what it promised.

Next up – we used chocolate milk onto the floor for the next test.

Reagan says it's more difficult to clean up the milk because it's thicker than the juice.

However, Zorbeez eventually picks it up.

Another test on juice spilled out of the refrigerator is successful as well.

Eventually, Reagan finds out that Zorbeez works just as well, if not better, wet than dry.

In spill after spill, Zorbeez sucks up the mess which saves scores of paper towels.

However, when asked Reagan if would Zorbeez, she appears hesitant.

"I don't know," she said.

It's not the product that's holding Reagan back, it's the price.

Zorbeez costs $14.95 plus $11.90 in shipping charges.

So, would she buy it?

"Probably not," Reagan answered. "But, we spend a lot of money on paper towels. So, I'm not sure why I wouldn't. This wouldn't completely eliminate paper towels, especially for hand drying. But for the spills, I would I would reach for this first."
