(KDKA) The annual "Wings Over Pittsburgh" Air Show is taking off this weekend out at the 911th Airlift Wing in Moon Township.

In a preview to the show, KDKA Chief Meteorologist Jeff Verszyla got an up close and personal experience with those clouds he talks about everyday in his forecast.

Veszyla got to take off courtesy of the Air National Guard and aerobatic ace Major John Klatt.

Up first was a short pre-flight briefing about proper parachute fitting and rip cord review.

Then, Verszyla got strapped into the Staudacher S-300 D, a world class aerobatic aircraft capable of pulling 9 G's with a top speed of 250 mph at a total weight of only 1,250 pounds.

Verszyla says he had a pulse pounding experience that included flips, aerial tricks and flying upside down. He even got to take the controls for a while.

The 'Wings Over Pittsburgh' Air Show runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
