Urine Gone - Does It Really Do That?
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
A new product promises to eliminate pet urine stains and spills around the home.
The product called "Urine Gone" says it only takes a few sprays of their product to make those problem areas disappear.
KDKA Consumer Editor Yvonne Zanos set out to find out -- "Does it really do that?"
In television commercials, the makers of Urine Gone say: "Urine Gone's amazing enzymes have an appetite for urine. They fight it, break it down and digest it away."
For $9.99 you get a 24 oz. bottle of Urine Gone enzyme cleaner and a CSI-like black light that promises to make anything organic glow.
Our first problem when testing Urine Gone was that the black light was too small to actually find those pet stains.
But we tried it out anyway.
The first thing we noticed was the actual smell of the product itself.
It was a pleasant, clean smell.
But what about those stains?
In the commercial, they disappear before your eyes
right under that black light.
Not for us... Not while you spray, not after it dries, not weeks later.
So, it really does not get rid of stains under black light but our tester says it did do a pretty nice job of getting rid of pet odors.
