Spotbot Not A Cure-All For Stain Removal

(KDKA) People who have carpets in their homes are likely to have spots.

Bissell claims to have a product that makes the spots disappear.

Spotbot promises to do the work for you. It already has the Good Housekeeping seal. However, it costs $129.

The Bissell automatic Spotbot promises to permanently remove stains from your carpet and not just easy stains, but the tough ones, too.

The company sent a stained carpet to KDKA's Yvonne Zanos to test their product. The carpet is grape and coffee stained.

The Spotbot comes with its own cleaners, Oxygen2 and Little Green.

The cleaning formula calls for part water, part Oxygen2 and a small amount of Little Green. You can set the Spotbot for a surface stain or set in stain. The set-in stain was chosen to clean the pre-stained carpet.

The cleaning cycle lasts about five minutes and clearly shows you which step it's on. It shuts off when it's done.

On the first try, the machine didn't lift the grape stain or the coffee stain.

Zanos reports that the machine is on the right track, but not a must have.
