Does It Really Do That: Magic Sheets

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― No one likes cleaning tough, greasy foods from their pots and pans.

Magic Sheets promises to make the process easier without any hassle, but does it really do that?

We put Magic Sheets to the test at Tom's Diner on the South Side where they have a lot of greasy foods baked on their pots and pans.

Owner Penny Folino says we've come to the right place.

"We get a lot of that here," she said. "We're the greasy spoon."

Penny says they spend lots of time scrubbing and if there were an easier way, she'd love it.

Magic Sheets promises to do the job in only four steps and without scrubbing.

The infomercial for Magic Sheets says it only takes 15 minutes while patented enzymes do all the work.

It doesn't smell like much, it has no fragrance at all and it doesn't look like much either.

"It just looks like wax paper," said Folino.

First you wet the sheet but it doesn't even seem like it's getting wet.

Instructions say to wipe the baked on chili pot with the Magic Sheet, then drop in the Magic Sheets, fill the pot with water, and let it soak for fifteen minutes.

We also tried Magic Sheets on a pan of baked marinara.

While waiting, we rinsed and soaked another baked on marinara pot.

This time we did not use a Magic Sheet -- just hot water and 17 minutes later, we find out how the Magic Sheet did.

"It didn't even soften it really," said Folino. "It's not working on this one."

On the pan with burnt-on chili it appeared to do well.

However, so did just soaking a pot in hot water for 15 minutes.

Without the Magic Sheet it came out about the same.

Although the Magic Sheets might have made a little difference, was it worth the extra money?

Folino is not convinced.

"I spent 69 cents on my steel wool and my Dawn and I'm good," said Folino.
