School District Considers Tasers For Officers

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) ― Officials in the Uniontown School District are considering a proposal to allow the district's police officers to carry tasers.

The chief insists they are not meant to be used on students, but rather to protect students from outsiders who may pose a threat.

But many parents at the meeting were against the plan.

The officers would have to be certified to carry tasers and part of the certification process involves the officers being tased themselves.

The meeting was to gather public input. The board will vote on the issue in September.
