The deadline has arrived for students in Allegheny County to be caught up on their vaccinations.
Students that were not up-to-date on their shots today were sent home from school.
"They just called us to the auditorium, asked us do we have our shots and just gave us papers to come to the clinic," said local high school student, Lyneel Brimage.
The deadline was set by the Allegheny County Health Department.
"We know that they've been notified all year long, but people were telling us they never got this message till last week," said Shirley Slegy, of the Allegheny County Health Department. "But the main important thing is they're here today."
Just like Wednesday afternoon, there was a long line again today at the county's free vaccination clinic in Oakland.
"We have nurses set up everywhere. We normally run over there three to four nurses; today we're probably going to have nine and 10," said Slegy.
New requirements for the school year include vaccines against meningitis, chicken pox, tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough.
Parents can obtain exemptions for their children for religious, personal or medical reasons.
The health department will again offer their immunization clinic today and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
