Local Kids Participate In 'iWalk' To School Day

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Thousands of children ditched their school buses this morning.

It's International Walk To School Day and students from all 50 states and 40 countries participated.

About 265 students from the Pittsburgh area joined in. Instead of taking the bus, children walked to school with their parents, teachers and other community leaders.

The idea is to promote healthier behavior for children to get them moving and raise awareness of pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
