Wexford Elementary Students Read For Turkey Fund

WEXFORD (KDKA) ― At Wexford Elementary School, the Pine Richland Football League's small cheerleaders kicked off this year's Read To Feed program for the Turkey Fund.

During the next three weeks, more than 400 K-3rd graders will be reading books to raise money and for every dollar raised another feather goes on a turkey so that every child can have a turkey on Thanksgiving Day.

Raising money for the Turkey Fund is something of a tradition for students at Wexford Elementary School. This is the fourth year that students have been raising money for the fund.

"I think it is an opportunity for boys and girls to really be powerful and to really help in a way that's very concrete," Dr. Pat Dunkis, principal, said. "This read-a-thon is a real way for them to see good things for people who are less fortunate."

That's a message that is clearly getting through.
