Report: Student Asked Officials To Contact Police
UPPER ST. CLAIR (KDKA) ―
We first heard about problems at Upper St. Clair High School back in February when a 14-year-old boy was accused of raping and assaulting several of his female classmates in a stairwell.
But in an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a 16-year-old girl claimed she asked school officials to notify police more than a month before three of her classmates were allegedly raped.
She told the newspaper, "It took all of them getting hurt for him to get punished. It could have been prevented with me."
Travis Dougherty, who will be a senior at the high school in the fall, agrees.
"They probably should have followed up and investigated a lot more than they did. Not a lot was done after the assaults," he said. "The kid was kicked out of school and they installed cameras in the bottom of the stairwell and that's about it."
A local law firm representing one of the alleged rape victims is encouraging any other victims to come forward.
