Schenley Supporters Urge Board To Save School

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Supporters of Schenley High School are making a last-ditch effort to save it.

The Pittsburgh Public School Board is set to vote next week on whether to shut it down.

A group of Schenley advocates rallied in front of the Board of Education before the public hearing.

They say they want all spending to stop until they have a comprehensive plan for high school reform in their hands.

Superintendent Mark Roosevelt says the district can't afford the estimated $75 million in renovations the high school needs to stay open.

The group plans to take their concerns to Pittsburgh City Council today, although council has no jurisdiction over Board of Education matters.
