School Board Votes To Extend Roosevelt's Contract

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Mark Roosevelt will be with the district for five more years.

The Pittsburgh Public School Board voted to extend Roosevelt's contract through the end of the 2014 school year.

The new deal has the same performance-based compensation as his original contract.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as long as Roosevelt meets certain goals set by the board, he will get annual raises of $15,000.  The PG lists Roosevelt's current salary at $225,000.

Roosevelt joined the district in 2005, replacing former Superintendent John Thompson.

Earlier this month, the district announced that it had logged the lowest drop in enrollment in a decade.  Officials credited the improvement in part to Roosevelt's initiatives as well as the Pittsburgh Promise college scholarship program.
