Neighbors Disturbed By Latest Groping Incident

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― A Pittsburgh neighborhood is on alert after a 10-year-old girl was reportedly groped.

The girl was walking on the city steps on Yard Way, which is off of Magdalena Street with her 7-year-old brother in the South Side Slopes.

"When they had went down the city steps, he was walking up the steps towards them, waved and said, 'Hello' to her brother who was two steps in front of her since they had to go to one side and then when he got to her, he reached out and grabbed her inappropriately," the girl's mother told KDKA.

To fight back, the girl says she pinched him and pushed his hand away.  Once that happened, the man ran off.  The girl grabbed her brother and ran to Phillips Elementary School.

The suspect is only described as a white man with a slender build and brownish hair.  He was reportedly dressed in black.

At this point, it's not clear if this incident is connected to similar cases in two other city neighborhoods.

On Monday, a student at Colfax Elementary reported that a man groped her as she walked to school in Squirrel Hill.

Officials are investigating similar incidents involving children near Minadeo Elementary School in Squirrel Hill and Grandview Elementary in the Allentown section of the city.

The suspect police are looking for in the Squirrel Hill incidents is described as a white man in his early to mid twenties, about 6-feet tall with short brown hair.

Investigators say the suspect wanted in connection with incidents at Grandview Elementary fits a similar description; but at this point, it's not clear if the same man is responsible.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
