Penn Hills School Officials Address Incidents

PENN HILLS (KDKA) ― Administrators in the Penn Hills School District are speaking out after two back to back incidents at separate schools.

On Thursday, an 11-year-old was caught with a loaded gun in her swim bag at Linton Middle School.

Then, a 16-year-old had a run in with Penn Hills Police in the high school. Officers say they had to tase him.

He allegedly hit two officers and may be charged with several felonies.

School Superintendent Dr. Joseph Carroll and School Board President Joe Bailey say the problems in the district are with a few students.

District leaders are convinced they have a handle on the discipline problem and say they have proper security procedures in place, pointing out that it was their staff that found the gun in the middle school student's swim bag.
