Oil City Teacher Faces Trial On Corruption Charge

FRANKLIN (KDKA) ― An Oil City High School teacher is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a female student.

Angie Fetty waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Venango County courthouse in Franklin.

Franklin police arrested Fetty after two weeks of monitoring her alleged relationship with a 16-year-old female student.

Investigators say there would be sleepovers at the teacher's apartment with the student sleeping in the same bed.

Then the teacher would take the student to a bus stop so they would not arrive together at school.

Fetty is said to have admitted to hugging and kissing the girl but nothing beyond that.

Friends of the teacher were at court to support her.

Tammy Kopf, a parent, says she thinks Fetty is being persecuted for her sexual orientation.

"She was a mentoring teacher – she was an awesome teacher. She helped my daughter through a lot of things and she's a good teacher," Kopf said.

Fetty faces trial on charges including endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and possessing drug paraphernalia.
