Hempfield Practice Fields Damaged By Vandals

HEMPFIELD TWP. (KDKA) ― The Hempfield Area school district is offering a $2,000 reward for information about vandals who did $15,000 worth of damage to two newly-sodded practice fields at the high school over the weekend.

Athletic Director Greg Meisner says sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, someone drove around a gate and onto the fields, smashing water pipes that were being installed to water the grass.

The vandals also drove up and down the fields leaving tire marks.

The fields that were damaged are practice fields used by the freshman and varsity football teams and the soccer team.

Until the fields can be repaired the teams are using other practice fields.

If you know anything about the vandalism, Meisner says you can contact him at 724-850-2079.
