CPSC Announces New Recalls For Consumers
(KDKA)
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced some new recalls on products that could be right in your home.
Officials say if you own any of these products you should discontinue their use immediately.
Aloha Housewares says they are recalling more than 150,000 portable electric heaters, which were sold in Wal-Mart and other small retail chain stores for $35 to $45.
Experts say these heaters can overheat which melts their plastic parts and poses a potential fire hazard. Officials say they have had 29 reports of overheating including 18 reports of property damage and one injury.
Officials say you should contact the company for a replacement.
Meanwhile,
Family Dollar says it is recalling a quarter of a million of their Fun and Safe Magnetic Dart Boards. These are sold in Family Dollar stores for about $5.
Officials say the darts that come with this board have tiny magnets at the tips, which can detach and pose a choking hazard or possibly the chance of an intestinal blockage if they're swallowed by children.
Experts say if you own this product you can return it to any Family Dollar store for a refund.
Also,
Munire Furniture says they are recalling 24,000 curved and flat top cribs with the brand names Essex, Brighton/Sussex and Captiva.
Officials say these cribs are sold at specialty baby stores for between $400 and $600.
They say the problem is that the support brackets on the mattress spring are on the wrong side, which prevents the mattress spring from lowering to its lowest position. Experts say this allows the potential for children to crawl over the railing, posing a fall hazard.
Officials say you can contact the manufacturer for replacement spring brackets.
