USDA Announces Recall Of Beef Steak Fritters
WASHINGTON (KDKA) ―
The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has announced the recall of thousands of pounds of frozen beef steak fritters over concerns that they may contain pieces of plastic.
Officials say the fritter products were made by the Advance Food Company in Oklahoma and distributed to restaurants nationwide.
However, they were not available for direct consumer purchase.
The recall involves about 110,730 pounds of the product which were produced on Sept. 23, 2009.
Authorities say the problem was found when "the company received customer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in the product."
There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
According to officials, the labels on the cases of the recalled products have the establishment number of "EST. 2260Y" inside the USDA mark of inspection, a case code of "94612-100" and a "Best if Used By 09/23/2010" sticker located on the end panel. Each case also bears the lot number beginning with "N0239" which is located on the side panel.
