In an effort to court Pittsburgh voters heading to the polls today, both Senator Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton made several stops in our area.
With the race for the Democratic nomination for the presidency on the line, both Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have their eyes on Pennsylvania.
Both candidates were in Pittsburgh yesterday; but they've been continuing their push here today.
With the polls opening at 7am, the campaiging started bright and early.
Sen. Obama spent the morning greeting voters in Pittsburgh's Strip District. He and his wife, Michelle, joined Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney for breakfast at Pamela's Diner even waving the Terrible Towel at one point.
Obama says he believes today's Primary is still too close to call. "Senator Clinton had a 20-point lead to start with," Sen. Obama said. "We think we've closed it, but we still have to consider ourselves the underdogs. A lot of it's going to depend on turnout."
Meanwhile, although Sen. Clinton was on the other side of the state talking to voters in the Philadelphia area, her husband has been making the rounds in our area.
Former President Bill Clinton spent the morning visiting polling sites in and around Pittsburgh from Squirrel Hill to Green Tree.
Greeted by a rock-star welcome at the Jewish Community Center this morning, Clinton signed autographs, took pictures and talked with a number of people in the crowd.
The former president told reporters he's confident in the outcome. "I believe when it's over, people will see that she does have a good chance to win the popular vote if you let everybody vote and if you count every vote."
Both candidates have spent a lot of time and money campaigning here and across the state; and it's no wonder.
Today's Primary Election is the first one in years in which Pennsylvania voters will have a significant say in the outcome.
